- Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Commendation Award to Himachal Pradesh under Krishi Karmanya Award 2016-17 of Central Government for excellent performance in total food grain production Category-2 at Tumkur, Karnataka today.
- Director Agriculture said that total food grain production in the State has increased to 1562.73 lakh ton in the year 2016-17. He said that department has done commendable job in polyhouse farming, crop diversification, micro irrigation, natural farming, irrigation, mechanization and soil health management.
- Krishi Karmanya Award was started by Agriculture Ministry in the year 2010-11 for giving award to the States for best production of pluses, paddy, wheat, grains and total food grain production.
