  1. Lebanon Pager Explosions: At Least 9 Killed, Thousands Injured –

 

  • A series of pager explosions across Lebanon resulted in the deaths of at least nine people and injuries to approximately 2,800 others, including Hezbollah fighters, medics, and Iran’s envoy to Beirut.
  • The explosions occurred around 3:45 PM local time and lasted for about an hour. The Lebanese government and Hezbollah have attributed the attacks to Israel, describing them as a significant escalation in ongoing conflicts.
  • Lebanon’s information minister condemned the detonations as “Israeli aggression.” Hezbollah officials referred to the event as the “biggest security breach” in nearly a year of conflict with Israel.

 

  1. Indian Men’s Hockey Team Won Asian Champions Trophy 2024 –

 

  • India’s Men’s Hockey Team clinched the 5th Title of Asian Champions Trophy in 2024, by winning a goal from Jugraj Singh, India beat China 1-0 in the final game of the tournament.
  • The Indian men’s hockey team defeated China to defend the Asian Champions Trophy title.

  1. Atishi Marlena Set To Be New CM of Delhi –

 

  • 43 year old, Atishi Marlena from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be the new Chief Minister of state Delhi. She will replace the AAP supremo and party chief Arvind Kejriwal. Decision was taken in the meeting of member of legislative assembly.
  • Born to Delhi University professors Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi on June 8, 1981, Atishi Marlena is a Delhi resident, completing her primary education from Springdales School in New Delhi and earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Stephen’s College.
  • Later, she completed her Master’s in the same field from Oxford University and a second master’s in 2005, from Oxford’s Magdalen College as a Rhodes Scholar. Later joined AAP.

 

  1. PM Modi launches Odisha’s Flagship Scheme Subhadra –

 

  • Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi launched the scheme of “Subhadra”, flagship initiative of the State Government of Odisha designed to benefit the one crore women in the state.
  • Subhadra Yojana is a financial assistance to women of Odisha, ensuring their economic independence and overall well-being.
  • The scheme is named after Goddess Subhadra, the younger sibling of Lord Jagannath, the presiding deity of Odisha.
  • The Subhadra Yojana is about the Odisha state government transferring Rs. 10,000 per year to eligible women beneficiaries in the state between the ages 21 and 60.

 

  1. Senior IPS Officer Amrit Mohan Appointed SSB Chief –

 

  • Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Odisha cadre, Amrit Mohanwas appointed as the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
  • Amrit Mohan an IPS officer from Odisha cadre. Currently, working as Special Director General of Central Reserve Protection Force (CRPF).
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Mr Prasad’s appointment to the post of Director General, SSB for a tenure up to the date of his superannuation on August 31, 2025.
  • Earlier, Dalit Singh Choudhary an IPS officer was the Director General of SSB.
  • A SSB Officer or Sashastra Seema Bal Officer is responsible for guarding India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan. Originally set up in 1963, the Sashastra Seema Bal mainly deals with preventing cross-border crime and smuggling as well as other anti-national activities within the confines of the country and its territories.
