- INDIA, RUSSIA AIM FOR $100 BILLION TRADE TARGET BY 2030 –
- At the 22nd yearly summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Moscow, India and Russia announced a plan to improve their strategic economic cooperation.
- This is a big deal. This move comes at a time when trade between the two countries is growing quickly. The two countries have set the lofty goal of trading $100 billion worth of goods by 2030.
- The leaders signed nine Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), which focused on different areas. One of the most important agreements was one to boost trade and joint business projects in Russia’s Far East, which was said to be a key area because of its wealth of resources.
- The deals also aim to make the most of opportunities by building the Vladivostok-Chennai corridor, speeding up the integration of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), and making the most of the Northern Sea Route.
- EXERCISE PITCH BLACK –
- The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will start “Exercise Pitch Black” on July 12, 2024. This is a major multinational aerial warfare practice that is held in Australia every two years.
- Over 140 planes from around the world are taking part in this year’s drill, which is the biggest one in the 43-year history of the event. The India Air Force (IAF) has said it will take part in the drill, which will run from July 12 to August 2, 2024, sending Su-30 MKI fighter jets.
- Exercise Pitch Black is a big international military event meant to make involved countries more ready for battle and strengthen ties between them.
- It began in 1981 and is now seen as the most important flying exercise for the RAAF. Since it began, the drill has grown in size and difficulty, with a focus on defensive counter-air, offensive counter-air, and strategic air operations.
- GAUTAM GAMBHIR APPOINTED INDIA’S NEW CRICKET HEAD COACH –
- Gautam Gambhir has been named as the new head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team by Jay Shah, who is the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
- The news was shared on social media, with a note about how well Gambhir knows current cricket and how many different kinds of experiences he has had with the game.
- Gautam Gambhir is a former professional cricket player who was a big part of India’s wins in cricket, including the T20 and ODI World Cups.
- Famous for being smart about strategy, Gambhir became a coach and led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an IPL title in 2024. During his playing career, he led the team to two wins as captain.
- WORLD POPULATION DAY 2024: –
- World Population Day is an annual event that is observed every year on July 11. This day was established to raise awareness about the major issues that surround global population growth and the impact it carries on development and sustainability.
- According to Worldometer, the current global population is 8,120,886,060 and rising.
- The world’s population has undergone a major shift in recent times. It took centuries for the population to reach 1 billion, however, in just a few hundred years, it has grown sevenfold. According to the UN, the population reached the 7 billion mark in 2011. This rapid growth poses many significant challenges.
- NASA, SPACEX LAUNCHES GAME-CHANGING WEATHER SATELLITE GOES-U –
- On June 25, SpaceX achieved a successful launch of the fourth and final satellite for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) program.
- According to NASA’s statement, the GOES-R (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) constellation represents a state-of-the-art system designed to deliver continuous monitoring of weather and potentially dangerous environmental conditions across large parts of the Western Hemisphere.
- NASA, SpaceX, and Elon Musk marked the achievement by sharing images and videos on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). “New weather satellite delivered!” Musk, founder of SpaceX, announced.
