- “INDIA, JAPAN BEGIN FIRST TALKS ON ECONOMIC SECURITY AND TRADE” –
- On November 27, 2024, the first round of the India-Japan Dialogue on Economic Security, Strategic Trade, and Technology took place in Tokyo.
- This important meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between the two nations in areas like economic security, supply chain resilience, and the application of emerging technologies.
- The dialogue was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri from India and Vice Minister Masataka Okano from Japan, and it marked a significant step in strengthening the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
- INDIA’S MILK PRODUCTION SURGES BY 3.78% IN 2023-24 –
- India’s milk production has seen a 3.78% increase, reaching 239.30 million tonnes in 2023-24, maintaining its position as the world’s largest milk producer, according to the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2024 report. This growth is attributed to better productivity in milch cattle and an increase in per capita milk availability.
- On National Milk Day, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh highlighted that the country’s milk production has grown at an average rate of 6%, surpassing the global average of 2%.
- The per capita availability of milk has also risen from 459 gm per day in 2022-23 to 471 gm per day in 2023-24. Despite a slight slowdown in the growth rate, India remains a global leader in milk production and continues to push for exports.
- ‘BAL VIVAH MUKT BHARAT’ CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED BY UNION MINISTER –
- The Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annapurna Devi, launched the national campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” in New Delhi.
- Aimed at eradicating child marriage and empowering young girls, the campaign aligns with the vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.
- It includes the launch of the Child Marriage Free Bharat Portal, an innovative tool for citizen engagement and enforcement of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
- AVIATION SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK 2024: NOVEMBER 25 TO 29 –
- The Airports Authority of India (AAI) observes Aviation Safety Awareness Week every year during the last week of November (November 25 to 29) to reiterate its dedication to safety in all aspects of aviation.
- Under the leadership of AAI Chairman Vipin Kumar, this initiative fosters a robust culture of safety across airports and Air Navigation Services (ANS) in India, aligning with global aviation safety standards.
- APPLE, GOOGLE, AND META SEE FASTER GROWTH IN INDIA THAN GLOBALLY –
- Big tech companies are experiencing rapid growth in India, faster than in other parts of the world. This trend has been evident over the past four fiscal years and companies like Apple, Google, and Meta are leading this charge.
- Apple India has shown remarkable net income growth. In FY21, it grew by 32%. This was followed by 3% in FY22, 76% in FY23, and 23% in FY24. This consistent double-digit growth contrasts sharply with Apple’s global performance.
- The global net income growth dropped from 64% in FY21 to just 3.3% in FY24. Apple plans to open four new retail stores across major cities in India. This move indicates strong confidence in the Indian market.
