  1. PM MODI RECEIVES HIGHEST HONORS FROM GUYANA AND DOMINICA –
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred prestigious awards by Guyana and Dominica in recognition of his significant contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his efforts in strengthening international ties, especially between India and these Caribbean nations.
  • These awards highlight the deepening diplomatic relations and the global recognition of Modi’s leadership in global health, climate resilience, and development cooperation.
  • PM Modi was awarded ‘The Order of Excellence,’ Guyana’s highest honor, by President Irfaan Ali. The award acknowledges his exceptional contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and his global leadership.
  • Modi was also conferred the ‘Dominica Award of Honour’ by President Sylvanie Burton of Dominica. The award recognizes Modi’s leadership and India’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the provision of 70,000 AstraZeneca vaccines to Dominica.

 

  1. PRASAR BHARATI LAUNCHES OTT PLATFORM ‘WAVES’ –
  • Prasar Bharati, India’s public broadcaster, has launched its own OTT platform ‘Waves’ at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
  • With a diverse content library, it aims to deliver a mix of nostalgic classics and contemporary programming, making it a hub for family-friendly entertainment. The platform is available on Android and iOS, offering content in over 12 languages and spanning multiple genres such as infotainment, gaming, education, shopping, and live events.
  • Waves provides 65 live TV channels, video-on-demand, free-to-play games, and online shopping through ONDC. It hosts content across genres like infotainment, education, and entertainment in over 12 languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Konkani.
  • Nostalgic and Modern Shows: The platform blends India’s cultural past with the present, featuring classic TV shows such as Ramayan, Mahabharat, and Shaktimaan, alongside new age content like Fauji 2.0 and Kicking Balls. The inclusion of student films, reality shows, and regional programming enhances its appeal.

 

  1. JAPAN AND WALES TO PARTNER WITH NAGALAND FOR HORNBILL FESTIVAL 2024 –
  • Japan has been announced as the official partner country for the 25th edition of Nagaland’s renowned Hornbill Festival, alongside Wales, which was confirmed earlier.
  • This strategic partnership, forged through meetings between Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Japanese Embassy representatives, including Takashi Ariyoshi and Mayumi Tsubakimoto, marks a significant moment in the state’s cultural calendar.
  • The festival, scheduled from December 1-10 at Kisama near Kohima, will feature Japan’s contribution in areas like cultural performances, capacity building, and workshops focusing on handicrafts and bamboo products, with renowned Japanese artists and experts leading these sessions.

 

  1. INDIA TO HOST INAUGURAL KHO KHO WORLD CUP IN 2025 –
  • India is all set to host the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup from January 13 to 19, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor (IGI) Stadium in New Delhi.
  • This historic event marks a significant step towards elevating Kho Kho, one of India’s most cherished indigenous games, onto the global stage.
  • With the support of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), the tournament promises to be a milestone in the promotion of traditional sports.

  1. INDIAN ARMY COMPLETES ‘SANYUKT VIMOCHAN 2024’ A KEY DISASTER RELIEF EXERCISE –
  • The Indian Army successfully conducted the “Sanyukt Vimochan 2024,” a Multilateral Annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, in Ahmedabad and Porbandar, Gujarat, on November 18-19, 2024.
  • The exercise showcased India’s readiness and collaborative capabilities for disaster response and was attended by various national and international agencies, including the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi.
