  1. ISRO’S FIRST ANALOG SPACE MISSION LAUNCHED IN LEH, LADAKH –
  • ISRO launched India’s first analog space mission from Leh, led by the Human Space Flight Centre in collaboration with AAKA Space Studio, University of Ladakh, IIT Bombay, and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council.
  • The mission aims to simulate an interplanetary habitat, utilizing Ladakh’s Mars-like conditions to study challenges of space habitation, benefiting the future exploration.

 

  1. GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES NAMO DRONE DIDI SCHEME FOR WOMEN SELF-HELP GROUPS –
  • The Namo Drone Didi Scheme launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare with a total budget of ₹1,261 crore.
  • It aims to empower 14,500 selected Women SHGs between 2024-25 and 2025-26.
  • This initiative is expected to enhance agricultural efficiency, support women’s entrepreneurship, and promote modern farming techniques across rural areas.

 

  1. GST COLLECTIONS REACH SIX-MONTH HIGH IN OCTOBER –
  • The GST mop-up hit Rs 1.87 trillion, marking a six-month peak and an 8.9% year-on-year increase from Rs 1.72 trillion in October 2023.
  • Year-to-date gross GST collections reached Rs 12.74 trillion, up 9.4% compared to Rs 11.64 trillion in the same period last year.
  • Ladakh led with 30% growth, followed by Kerala (20%) and Haryana (15%).
  • October’s net GST revenue was Rs 1.68 trillion.
  1. UPI SETS RECORD IN OCTOBER WITH 16.58 BILLION TRANSACTIONS –
  • In October, UPI transactions reached 16.58 billion in volume and Rs 23.5 trillion in value, a 1st for the digital payment since its inception in 2016.
  • October’s daily UPI transactions averaged 535 million in volume and Rs 75,801 crore in value.
  • IMPS saw a 9% increase in volume, FASTag transactions also grew by 8% in volume while Aadhaar Enabled Payment System transactions rose 26% in volume.

 

  1. WHAT IS UNIQUE LAND PARCEL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (ULPIN)? –
  • Approximately 30% of rural land parcels in India have received a Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN). This initiative aims to assign a 14-digit alpha-numeric identity to each land parcel. The data is sourced from the Ministry of Rural Development’s portal.
  • ULPIN stands for Unique Land Parcel Identification Number. It is part of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP). Each ULPIN is a unique identifier for land parcels, streamlining land record management across India.
  • The initiative was launched in 2021. It is a continuation of the earlier National Land Record Modernisation Programme, which began in 2008. The program was revamped and implemented as a central sector scheme on April 1, 2016.
